Demons of Asteborg DX will be available on Steam (digital) and Switch (physical and digital).
These modern versions will emulate the GBA version of the game, enhanced with an ergonomic improvements menu designed for modern gameplay comfort.
// 06 — KUNEKUNE EXCLUSIVE
All GBA and Neo Geo versions ordered on KuneKune will offer an exclusive option to activate 6 new merchants inspired by the founders of KuneKune.
These merchants will appear throughout the adventure and will never be included in any other edition.
Each member of the KuneKune team will be integrated into the game as a merchant, with their own custom pixel art sprite and unique dialogue lines.
This option will not be available on the Steam & Switch versions of the game

I haven't played the original game, will I be lost?
No worries. Demons of Asteborg DX is a complete game in its own right. It improves many aspects of the original and explains certain features more clearly, you won't be lost.
I've already played the original game, will I get bored?
No. This version brings enough improvements, reworked content, and new features to deliver an enriched experience, even for those who know the original game.
What are the main new features of this version?
Improved gameplay, reworked environments, new bosses, exclusive level, exclusive OST, redesigned menus, and plenty of secrets.
How can you justify the price of the Neo Geo editions compared to the recent €80 reissues?
At €80, a cartridge is pressed from an existing master. At €400, an original game is developed. A Neofid title represents around two years of production. Adjusted to constant euros, our price corresponds exactly to that of a brand-new AES game when the installed base counted one million consoles. The difference doesn't come from price inflation but from the nature of the product: reissue on one side, creation on the other.
Why aren't the KuneKune merchants present on the modern versions?
The KuneKune merchants are integrated directly into the GBA and Neo Geo builds, designed for retro hardware. The Switch versions (physical and digital) and Steam version deliver the game in standard GBA emulation, without this additional content. This restriction is technical: integrating the merchants on modern platforms would require a dedicated DLC system, with specific certification constraints from Nintendo and Steam, which would mobilize resources that we'd rather dedicate to finalizing the Neo Geo version and developing our next title. The merchants therefore remain exclusive to the GBA and Neo Geo cartridge editions ordered on KuneKune.
When will I receive my order?
GBA cartridge shipments will begin in July 2026. We're targeting a November 2026 release for the Neo Geo version so we can deliver the game alongside the Neo Geo AES+.
We're also targeting a November release for the modern versions of the game (Switch & Steam).
Will the game be available after the campaign ends?
The physical GBA and Neo Geo editions will continue to be sold on our official website, without the pre-order bonuses exclusive to KuneKune.
